Accessibility

We want this website to be usable by everyone, whatever their hardware, their software or their disability. This page describes what we have put in place, what still falls short, and how to tell us about it.

01Our commitment

Waxym is not subject to the legal obligation to publish an RGAA conformance declaration, which applies to public bodies and large companies. We nonetheless chose to build this website targeting WCAG 2.2 level AA, the standard the French RGAA 4.1 is based on.

Accessibility is not a box ticked at the end of a project: it is one of our quality criteria, on this website as on the ones we deliver to our clients.

02Conformance status

The website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. This assessment comes from an internal review — manual keyboard testing, contrast checks and screen reader testing — rather than a certified external audit.

03What we have put in place

  • Semantic HTML structure: landmarks, a logical heading hierarchy, lists and navigation regions;
  • A skip link that takes you straight to the main content;
  • Navigation that works fully with a keyboard, with a focus indicator that is always visible and contrasted;
  • Contrast ratios meeting level AA, in the light theme as well as the dark theme;
  • Respect for the “reduce motion” system preference: all non-essential movement is then switched off;
  • Text that can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality, and a layout that reflows down to 320 px wide;
  • Text alternatives for images that carry meaning, with decorative images hidden from assistive technology;
  • Form fields that are always labelled, with errors announced to screen readers;
  • Click targets that are large enough and spaced apart, including on touch screens;
  • A website whose content and navigation remain usable without JavaScript.

04Known limitations

  • Google Maps — the embedded frame is supplied by a third party and its accessibility is outside our control. The full postal address is always available as text nearby, and an external link lets you open directions in the app of your choice.
  • Client logos — they are displayed as bitmap images supplied by our clients, so they may look less crisp on very high density screens. Each company name is provided as a text alternative.
  • Scrolling references — the logo strip animation pauses on hover and on keyboard focus, and does not start at all if you have asked for reduced motion.

05Reporting a problem

If you have trouble reaching any content or feature, write to us at contact@waxym.com or call 06 22 99 31 36. Where possible describe the page concerned and the equipment you use: we undertake to reply and to provide the information in an accessible form.

06Escalation

If you find an accessibility failure that prevents you from reaching content and our answers do not satisfy you, you may refer the matter to the French Defender of Rights, contact its delegate in your region, or send a postage-free letter to: Défenseur des droits, Libre réponse 71120, 75342 Paris CEDEX 07, France.
